Among the most dynamic issues of international economic relations, foreign direct investment (FDI) has gained importance in recent years. As capital movements are being liberalized worldwide, and as production processes at the global level become increasingly integrated, FDI flows in the last decade increased five times faster than international trade. Moreover, in the 1990s, FDI flows to less developed countries (LDCs) have tended to grow faster than flows to the developed world.
